Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Cropping, resizing, and encoding all happen locally in your browser using your device's own processing. Your images are never sent to a server, which makes this safe for private and confidential photos.
How does the aspect-ratio lock work?
When the lock is on and you resize by pixels, changing the width automatically updates the height (and vice versa) to match the proportions of your current crop, so the image is scaled without stretching. Turn the lock off to set the width and height independently, which lets you stretch or squash the image on purpose.
Does the tool resize the whole image or just the crop?
It resizes the cropped region. First the selection box defines exactly which part of the image is kept, then the resize settings — pixels or percentage — are applied to that cropped area to produce the final output. If you leave the selection covering the whole image, it simply resizes the entire picture.
