Chinese Converter (Simplified ⇄ Traditional)

Link copied

A fast, private Simplified ⇄ Traditional Chinese converter with two live boxes. Type or paste Simplified Chinese into the left box and the Traditional version appears instantly on the right — or type Traditional on the right and the Simplified version updates on the left. There's no button to press: both sides stay in sync as you type. Beyond plain character conversion it understands regional differences, so you can target Traditional (Standard), Taiwan Traditional, or Hong Kong Traditional — picking up not just different glyphs like 裡 vs 裏 but also different vocabulary, such as 软件 becoming 軟體 in Taiwan. Word-aware conversion resolves tricky characters by context, turning 头发 into 頭髮 but 发现 into 發現. Everything runs entirely in your browser — nothing you type is ever uploaded.

How to use

Type or paste Simplified Chinese into the left box to see the Traditional conversion appear on the right in real time, with no button to click. To go the other way, type Traditional Chinese into the right box and the Simplified version updates on the left. Use the Traditional variant menu to switch between Standard, Taiwan, and Hong Kong output, and click Copy above either box to put that side's text on your clipboard. Note: Singapore and Malaysia officially use Simplified Chinese, so the Simplified box already serves those readers.

Frequently asked questions

Does it convert both directions in real time?
Yes. Both boxes are live. Type Simplified on the left to get Traditional on the right, or type Traditional on the right to get Simplified on the left — the other side updates automatically as you type, with no button to press.
What's the difference between the Taiwan and Hong Kong variants?
Traditional (Standard) does a straightforward character-by-character conversion. Taiwan Traditional additionally applies Taiwan vocabulary — for example 软件 → 軟體, 网络 → 網路, and 鼠标 → 滑鼠. Hong Kong Traditional uses Hong Kong wording such as 出租车 → 的士 and Hong Kong glyph preferences like 裏 instead of 裡. Singapore and Malaysia use Simplified Chinese officially, so they're served by the Simplified side rather than a separate Traditional standard.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser on your own device using a built-in dictionary. Nothing you type is ever sent to a server, so it's safe for private or sensitive text.
